Holt Lodge

About Holt

In the center of the most famous sights of Iceland. Only 1h and 15‘ from Reykjavik. Midst in the Southern lowlands with an easy access to some of the most impressive sights of Icelandic nature, like Geysir, Gullfoss and Thingvellir.

Tidy and fully equipped house of over 70 square meters ground floor and some 20 square meters on the loft, with 3 nice bedrooms (one double and two singles) and a living room, kitchen and bathroom downstairs. A door from the bathroom opens directly up to the hot tub on the terrace. Space for relaxation in a cosy room upstairs, also three extra beds if needed. Thus the house can sleep up to 7 people. A spacious terrace is around the house, offering a great view over the beautiful and naturally grown property, just as well as on the remote landscape –with a view to 5 glaciers! The geothermal floor heating makes a warm welcome at day and night, summer and winter.

You have a very good access to all kinds of activities in the neighborhood, horse riding, trout or salmon angling, golfing, river rafting, mountain trail exploring and snow mobile riding, not to forget the numerous hiking and bathing possibilities. In Reykjavik, only a good hour away, you would also have the chance on whale watching and deep sea fishing, ideal for your self catering! If you wish to go out dining, there‘s a good restaurant called „Lindin“ at village „Laugarvatn“, also the neighbored farm restaurant „Efsti-Dalur“ with self farmed products, or the restaurant Mika at the very close village Reykholt. Also at Reykholt you have the unique food experience at the tomato-greenhouse „Friðheimar“ (open early afternoon). Then further down south there‘s the Café at „Þrastarlundur, beautifully located by the bridge across the river Sog.

Heading up North or to the Westfjords? We also run the beautiful "Hamragil" lodge close by the town Akureyri up North, and "Tvera" lodge at the south coast of the Westfjords. We also have "Brekka Lodge" in Hvalfjord just north of Reykjavik.

If booked for more than 6 people, a surcharge of €30 per person per night will apply.

Thingvellir (Þingvellir) is probably the most interesting place in Iceland from historical-, geological- and aesthetical point of view. It is the first site in Iceland to receive the UNESCO's World Culture Heritage nomination, apart from being the first National Park of Iceland. Laugarvatn is a small school village on the way to Thingvellir, beautifully sited and offering a great spa called Fontana, plus an outstanding restaurant „Lindin" (The Spring).
