Technical Specifications

Some of your data is collected automatically when you visit our website. These are mainly technical data, such as the operating system of the computer, the web browser or the device with which you are visiting our website. The time of the page visit or the shortened IP address of your terminal device are also recorded. This information is evaluated anonymously exclusively for statistical purposes. We use this data primarily to make the content of our website more attractive to you.

Security log files

The IP address of the visitors, the user ID of the logged in users and the user name of the login attempts are conditionally logged when visiting our website in order to check for malicious activities and to protect the website from certain types of attacks. Examples of these login terms include login attempts, logout requests, suspicious URL requests, site content changes, and password updates. In the normal use of this website as a visitor or customer, these conditions are not fulfilled and these data are therefore not logged. If data is collected, this information is stored for 14 days.

When booking our holiday homes it is necessary to provide personal data such as your surname, your first name, your full address and your e-mail address. For the payment it is necessary to enter payment information such as credit card data or similar.

Bookings are made via Checkfront’s external booking system. Checkfront provides the online e-commerce platform for booking our holiday homes. Your booking data is stored by Checkfront on their data memories, in databases and within the Checkfront application on secure systems. Checkfront is a provider based in Canada. Payment for holiday homes booked through our website is made through Dalpay’s external payment system, which is linked to Checkfront and our website. Dalpay is a payment provider based in Iceland. For more information, see the data privacy of Dalpay.

Comments

When visitors write comments on the website, we also collect the information displayed in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address and the user agent string (which identifies the browser) to help detect spam.

An anonymized string (also called a hash) can be created from your email address and sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. After your comment has been shared, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

How long we store your data

When you write a comment, it is saved for an unlimited period of time, including metadata. This way, we can automatically recognize and share follow-up comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.

Data in connection with bookings of holiday homes are kept for 10 years.
